Who is Really the Machine

"The Machine is Us/ing Us" by michael Wesch explained to me that the world is no longer as reliable on written text. Now we are starting to rely on digital text which is more efficeint and easier to work with. Like if you need to type somethig in bold or italics you can do so without hassel. Also even the earlier forms of making a website were much harder than today. You would have had to go through this big dialog process and made sure everything was perfect. Where as now you can just make a blog and post something in 15 minuets or less. I think that the machine is us and using us because when we are bloging or checking our facebook we are just a "cog" in a big machine. We are a big part that without us the machine would stop working, but so are many other things. Also if we create something we are part of it and there is no going back onlt forward on to bigger problems that we will have to solve as we go on with generations to come. My generation is called the digital age. What will the next generation be called? The only way to find out is to progress.

bullying! what to do?

On Carl Fisch’s “The Fischbowl” he writes about Joel Burns’s speech on bullying. In his speech he talks about a bunch of recent suicides caused by bullying. He relates to this by telling how he was always bullied in middle school and high school for being a homosexual. He also says that he got through it by only listening to the people who helped and supported him. I think that it is horrible that anyone would find it funny to bully someone because they are different. Maybe this person will go on in life to do great things, and then the bully would have missed out on getting to know a great person. Even if this person doesn’t go on to do great things the bully still has no right to harass this person just because they are different or not “popular”. What does popular even mean? I think it’s just a way of rating people so someone is always better than someone else. This can really hurt someone’s self esteem, and this could be what drives student to suicides. Who is to tell you what you can and can’t do or who you can and can’t be. The single person should decide what’s important to them not their parents or peers. If everyone just tried to understand people than the world would be a much better place for everyone.

Mother Shoots Twins Before Turning Gun on Herself

The Denver Post's article on " A Mother Shooting Her Kids and Then Herself" shoked me for many reasons. First off it leaves me wondering why she would do this? I mean what was her perpose and who would this benifit? From reading this I have come to the conclusion that she killed her son because he was autistic. I still dont understand why she woul do this or why she would kill her daughter and then herself after! according to the denver post this is the 20th and 21st homocide in Colorado Springs this year! The bodys were found by the husband of the woman on monday at 3 30pm. That is all the information I could find.

Children more advanced

I read Will Richardson’s article on Footprints in the Digital Age featured in Educational Leadership and it hit me that children might be becoming more advanced than adults. In this article he says that the technology we have is always changing and that you could be and probably are being searched on Google at any given time. Also there are so many new ways of teaching that could only be imagined a decade ago. I think that Will Richardson is right in saying that kids are becoming more advanced in technology every day and eventually children might be running this world because they were born into this technology so that is all they know. Lastly I think that when he says that kids need be willing to learn that is true. That is my opinion on this article.

Tea Party Rising to the Top?

My article was on the Daily Beast’s post on how the Tea Party might be coming out as a third party. I think that if they try hard enough then they can possibly make it and become a third party. The Tea Party is a group of mostly republicans that didn’t like some of the republican’s policies and ideas. If I had to give the Tea Party a stand point they would probably be closest to independents. The reason for this is that they agree and disagree with some policies from both parties. Also I think that it would be good for the country to get a third party because it would get the people to not just vote for one side but vote for what they believe in. there is a big debate about if the party will make it on the Daily Beast’s website between Douglas Schoen and Will Bunch. I read about this and they both have really good ideas and points that are very persuasive. Will the Tea Party come out as a third party? The world may never know.

What's going to happen?

Nicholas Carr’s article in the Atlantic, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” caught my attention when he said that the internet is changing how we think and how we work. I agree with this statement but maybe we are changing for the better. Everything is becoming more efficient and more advanced every second. This could be because my generation has had this technology our whole lives. Older generations had to make the transition to this new technology and it’s been hard for some of them to get used to it. I understand where Nicholas is coming from and why he feels like he is being controlled by the internet for these reasons. It doesn’t mean that the internet is a bad thing; it has done amazing things for us. It has given us information and publicized so many wonderful things that past generations are aloof of. I believe that if we keep on this trail of updating technology we could have an even better future for generations to come. That is what I received from this article's information.

Three Bears Break Into Colorado Springs and Will Be Killed

A black bear and it's two cubs broke into a Colorado Springs home on September second and they will be killed (http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_15975195?source=rss). They were going through the house looking for food when the maid heard one of the cubs walk into the kitchen. The colrado division of wildlife was soon called and the bears were tranquilized. They were then taken away in a trailer and will be killed. My opinion on this subject is tha they should just take the bears out of the area and release them because bears are trying to gather all the food they can so that they can hybernate for winter. I do understand that the animals do not need to be going into peoples houses but I don't think it's worth taking thier lives. That is just my own opinion I hope you enjoyed it.
